PARADE DEDICATION, DELEGATES, AND ARTISTS FOR 2023 GREATER HARTFORD PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL DEL COQUI Harford, CT

Harford, CT – July 31, 2023 - The CICD Puerto Rican Parade, Inc. is thrilled to announce the theme, delegates, and music artists for its highly anticipated 2023 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival Del Coqui. As one of the largest celebrations of Puerto Rican heritage in Connecticut, this year's parade will highlight the themes of Unity and Solidarity, aiming to bring the community together in a spirit of togetherness and support.

"The Puerto Rican Day Parade is a celebration of our large, strong, vibrant, and proud Puerto Rican community here in Hartford, said Mayor Luke Bronin. “I want to thank CICD for the work they do throughout the year, not just to sustain this important Hartford tradition, but to honor and share Puerto Rican culture in so many ways. I also want to congratulate all the honorees this year, who have given so much and done so much for our city and our state."
The Town of New Britain will be bestowed with the honor of Parade Dedication, recognizing its unwavering commitment to the Puerto Rican and Hispanic Community. This dedication represents a testament to the town's ongoing efforts in fostering inclusivity and promoting cultural diversity.

"The City of New Britain has a growing and thriving Hispanic population that is a very important piece of our City's culture," said Mayor Erin E. Stewart. "We are honored to be recognized in this year's parade, it is a chance for us to celebrate the monumental impact our Puerto Rican residents both past and present have made on our community."

The 2023 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade will showcase the following esteemed delegates:

GRAND MARSHALL: Luiz Casanova, State Capitol Police Chief - A highly respected figure in law enforcement, Luiz Casanova will lead the parade as Grand Marshall. His dedication to public safety and commitment to community-building make him an ideal representative for this year's theme.

GODMOTHER: Gladys Rivera - A passionate advocate and community leader, Gladys Rivera will serve as the Godmother of the parade. With her unwavering commitment to empowering others, she has made a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.

GODFATHER: Fernando Betancourt, Director at San Juan Center - Known for his incredible leadership at the San Juan Center, Fernando Betancourt will take on the role of Godfather. His tireless efforts to provide educational and cultural programming have touched the lives of many.

HONORARY GRAND MARSHALL: Luis Carrasquillo, Division Manager for Goya - Recognized for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the Puerto Rican community, Luis Carrasquillo will join the parade as an Honorary Grand Marshall. His work with Goya Foods has been instrumental in supporting countless initiatives and events.

HONORARY GODMOTHER: Maly Rosado, Council President - Maly Rosado, Council President, will be an Honorary Godmother at this year's parade. Her role in local government and dedication to improving the lives of her constituents make her an inspirational figure in the Puerto Rican community.

HONORARY GODFATHER: Iran Nazario, President/CEO of the Peace Center of Connecticut - Iran Nazario, will join the parade as an Honorary Godfather. His unwavering commitment to fostering peace and unity has made a lasting impact on the community.

AMBASSADORS: Juan Rivera, a notable figure in the Hartford Residence community, will act as an Ambassador for the parade. Additionally, we are pleased to welcome the organizers of the CT Coalition of Puerto Rican Parades and Festivals from Hartford, New Haven, New London, Waterbury, Meriden, and Bridgeport as Ambassadors to celebrate Puerto Rican culture.

YOUTH AMBASSADOR: Destiny Garcia, former Miss Puerto Rico of Greater Hartford Queen - Destined for greatness, Destiny Garcia, former Miss Puerto Rico of Greater Hartford Queen, will be the Youth Ambassador of the parade. Her intelligence, charisma, and dedication to community service make her an exemplary representation of the youth.

In addition to the exceptional lineup of delegates, the CICD Puerto Rican Day Parade is delighted to feature an outstanding roster of musical talent, including:
